Tech Against Terrorism & GIFCT
E-learning Webinar Series – 2021
Countering terrorist use of the internet, moderating online content and safeguarding human rights
23 November 2021 5pm – 6pm GMT, 9am – 10am PDT, 12pm – 1pm EDT
For this Tech Against Terrorism & GIFCT webinar, we will discuss moderating online terrorist content and safeguarding human rights. As governments around the world have increased their counterterrorism operations, concerns have been raised by observers, civil society groups, and experts about the potentially negative impact on human rights such operations might have. Likewise, as tech sector collective efforts to counter terrorism online have increased in recent years, so has the critical examination of the risk such initiatives can pose to human rights and fundamental freedoms. Together with an expert panel, we will examine the various challenges related to human rights and freedom of expression that tech companies face when moderating online content. We will also explore a variety of methods and support mechanisms that are in place for tech companies to moderate online content while safeguarding human rights.
As always, this webinar session will finish with a Q&A session that is open to all attendees.
